Team Paraguay Dominates 2007 Women's World Cup, Win by 7 Strokes
01/21/2007
Celeste Troche has worked hard on her game with Raegan Earney for many years but especially the last several weeks at Keene's Pointe before leaving for the 16 hour flight to the Women's World Cup and a chance for her country, Paraguay, to take "World" bragging rights back home. Raegan was definitely a little biased towards Paraguay as he has worked extensively with Julieta Granada in the past as well.
Celeste shot the best round of the singles with a 69 and her partner, Julieta Granada, was just one back at 70. That was just the start of a dominating performance by Team Paraguay as they won the Women's World Cup, held in Sun City, South Africa, by a total of 7 strokes, again carding the best round of the final day at 7 under bringing them to 9 under for the tournament. Italy and South Korea were in the hunt early but the United States, led by Julie Inkster and Pat Hurst rallied late to a 2nd place finish at 2 under par.
